Berta: June 2004 - July 2005 |
click here for larger image |
Berta was sleek and black and an old soul. She loved climbing through tubes and
crawling up sweaters. She *loved* trying to eat chocolate. She was cuddly and adorable,
and nibbly (in a good way). Berta was the older, more responsible sister; she took
care of Mathilda and tried to keep her from falling off the table. She became ill
in June 2005, and had to be put down in July. |
 |
Mathilda: September 2004 - October 2005 |
click here for larger image |
Mathilda is the only NYHH resident so far to have had a a theme song (thanks,
Mr. Belafonte!). She was obsessed with running off the edge of
anything—hands, tables, sofas, the earth. She could flatten herself into almost
nothing and fit through teeny tiny spaces. She came down with
an infection in early October 2005 and died in her sleep. |
 |
Whale: May 2005 - January 2006 |
click here for larger image |
Whale came to the NYHH in the summer of 2005 along with her sisters, Killer and
Sinead, and her brothers Antonio and Bartholomew. She lived in a three-story house
with Killer and Sinead and they loved to all run in the wheel at the same time.
She loved eating snacks and was a little bit of a chubster (as well as a champion
toilet-paper-tube eater). She was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2006 and
was put down later that month. |
 |
Prince : 2005 - February 2006 |
click here for larger image |
Prince was, for a dwarf hamster, pretty big. Not "fat," just big-boned.
He chewed through toilet paper tubes like there was no tomorrow, and always got into
policy discussions with the Mayor at inappropriate times. His illness hit him very fast
and he died within a day of showing any signs of not being well. He is resting in peace now
alongside Whale. |
 |
New York Five: December 2005 - March 2006 |
click here for larger image |
The New York Five were named after the New York mob
families. Like their namesakes, they were very talented at getting into trouble
and repeatedly escaped from their cage. In one week, all five hamsters
died, leaving the NYHH to speculate that they had been sick from birth.
|
 |
Cinnamon: Unknown - May 2006 |
click here for larger image |
Cinnamon came to the NYHH housed in a cage meant for a dwarf hamster, even though he was a pretty good-sized
syrian. But we moved him into a spacious new cage and set about
spoiling him with carrots, snacks, and hugs. He was very happy, and excelled at running around in his purple ball.
He passed away one night in May, sadly. |
 |
Michael Bloomberg: 2005 - June 2006 |
click here for larger image |
Secretly, Michael Bloomberg was my favorite hamster. I was a little glad when no one ever
adopted him, cause I loved having him around. He was so freaking cute, and eager, and sweet.
I mean, MAN. He was a cutie patootie. Just watch this video
here. Ahh, the talks
we used to have about politics. Michael Bloomberg,
you will be missed. |

Kaiser Wilhelm: August 2003 - June 2006 |
click here for larger image |
I am so, so sad that das Kaiser is gone. He was a special guy and he will be missed.
Click here for the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Page. |
 |
Blueberry: Unknown - August 2006 |
click here for larger image |
Blueberry was born in the summer of 2005.
Blueberry was... difficult. She enjoyed biting, drawing blood, and attacking. Her favorite activities were attempting to
maim and kill. She was tiny, and had pretty fur, and red beady eyes. She was given
to the NYHH by a woman in Bensonhurst who was "allergic" to her, and on
the subway ride home she was named by a little girl who had always "wanteded
a whampster named Blueberry." She died in her sleep peacefully. |
 |
Holland Tunnel: Unknown - September 2006 |
click here for larger image |
Holland Tunnel only lived in the New York Hamster House for a short while... but while she was here,
she lived a happy life, playing with her sisters Brook and Amsterdam and climbing up the walls of their cage like a MANIAC. She was energetic, sweet,
and was good at sharing (except for almonds, which she was very greedy about). Holly went to sleep one night and didn't wake up in the morning; she died
a peaceful death.
|
 |
One Eyed Willy: March 2006 - September 2006 |
click here for larger image |
One Eyed Willy didn't really only have one eye. She had one good eye, and the other one is irritated.
We took her to the vet in mid-September and Dr. Pilny doesn't put her on a regiment of saline, visine and ciprofloxacin to clear it up. However, about a
week later, she got very weak and started to shake a lot. Her breath got very labored, and she died in my hands late in the evening of 10/1. I'm really
sad that I wasn't able to get her healthy.... and I'm so annoyed that she was so poorly cared for before she came to the NYHH. Willy will be missed.
|
 |
Britney: April 2006 - October 2006 |
click here for larger image |
Britney was such an adorable hamster. She really had the most soft fur of any hamster I've ever had. She was easy to pick up, friendly, and cute as a button.
I was really looking forward to someone adopting her--she really would have made a good pet. But I thought she was pregnant, so I didn't
adopt her out right away. Then one morning out of the blue, she died in her sleep. She will be missed. |
 |
 |
Brewster |
click here for larger image |
Brewster was just a baby when he came to the NYHH from a shelter
in Pennsylvania. He was incredibly rambunctious, and didn't know
how to be handled or cuddled very well. I put him through an intensive
program of cuddling, hugging, and petting until he was the most
friendly, lovable hamster around. Brewster was adopted by a family
who lived nearby and he is now happily ensconced in their home. |
 |
Antonio and Bartholomew |
click here for larger image |
Antonio and Bartholomew were two bachelors who came to
the NYHH in an outer-space hamster cage. They were very chatty and made noises ALL
the time, and were also a bit sloppy with their food. Antonio and Bart were adopted
by a family in *New Jersey. |
 |
Pooh Bear: 2005 - March 2006 |
click here for larger image |
Pooh Bear used to live in Brooklyn, but needed to join the NYHH because
his home didn't have any heat. He lived at the House for a few months and was then
adopted by Jody of Hoboken, NJ. Jody and Pooh Bear sit on the sofa together
and watch tv. We used to think that Pooh Bear was a girl, but, well, he's not
:) (Sadly, Pooh passed away in March 2006) |
 |
Frankie / God |
click here for larger image |
After a year in the New York Hamster House, God was adopted by
Jody of Hoboken (who had previously adopted Pooh Bear) in March 2006.
Jody decided to rename God, and he is now named Frankie
after Old Blue Eyes--another Jersey native. Whether he is crooning or
smiting, he is very happy in his new home. |
 |
Tofurkey |
click here for larger image |
Tofurkey was adopted by the New York Hamster House in February 2006
from the Petco in Yonkers and one month later found her forever home with
Sandi & Co. in Brooklyn. She is a pretty light gray color, and is a little shy
(and loves making a complete mess in her cage).
I have a feeling that she will fit right in to her new, loving family! |
 |
Jesus |
click here for larger image |
Jesus is related to God (duh), but they fought all the time and couldn't live
together and that is why they are now in separate, but happy, homes. Jesus was adopted by a family
in Connecticut who drove ninety minutes each way down to NYC to pick him up and take him home! Now that's love. They
promised to let him preen and to admire his beautiful hair. |
 |
Princess Buttercup |
click here for larger image |
Princess Buttercup was rescued in October 2005 along with the three brothers. She
had been kept in a small bucket, and had no water when she was picked up. Buttercup found her "Farm Boy" in the form
of Caroline, who wanted to take home ALL of the hamsters and will surely give her
a wonderful life. Buttercup used to wish for a wonderful forever home.
Well.... As yo |
 |
Snoop / Hakeem |
click here for larger image |
Snoop had a really short stay in the New York Hamster House. He came and left in April...
probably because he is so darn cute! His dark brown hair was so pretty, and made him unique in the NYHH. But a
really sweet college boy came and decided that Snoop was Hakeem. Now Hakeem is living large,
and is obsessed with crawling through tubes and mazes. |
 |
Baby Daddy |
click here for larger image |
Baby Daddy was very tight with the ladies. He had them all wrapped around his little paw.
They brought him wheat thins and carrots and he just laid back and enjoyed the ride. He was born in
January 2005, and stayed in the NYHH until he was adopted in April to make a little girl very happy on her birthday. |
 |
Peanut and Fiona |
click here for larger image |
This adorable pair of hamsters came in the day after the NYHH was featured in the New York Times. Jody, a NYHH friend,
adopted Peanut, and awesome young gal from the Upper West Side adopted Fiona. Peanut and Fiona both love to
dig like maniacs, sniff at corners, and take the long route. These hamsters sure have personality! |
 |
Simone de Beauvoir |
click here for larger image |
Simone de Beauvoir was born on February 13, 2006 to parents Gogol and Bordello. She and her three sisters
(Bridget, Marie, and Josephine) were brought to the NYHH in March by their French nanny, Violaine. Simone
loves chewing, gnawing, and discussing feminist existentialism. She was adopted by a lovely gal from Brooklyn. |
 |
Josephine Bonaparte |
click here for larger image |
Josephine Bonaparte was born on February 13, 2006 to parents Gogol and Bordello. She and her three sisters
(Bridget, Simone, and Marie) were brought to the NYHH in March by their French nanny, Violaine. Josephine
is incredibly friendly, cuddly, and loving. She was adopted by a sweet guy who lives just blocks away from the
NYHH, and will have a happy life in Inwood! |
 |
Baby Mama |
click here for larger image |
Baby Mama came to the New York Hamster House in March 2006 from a loving family in Chinatown. Though he's
called a mama, he's actually a boy. Oops! Baby Mama loves snacks, climbing on sofas, and having his soft, pretty hair petted. He was adopted last night
by a friend of Josephine Bonaparte's new dad. |
 |
Marie Antoinette |
click here for larger image |
Marie Antoinette was born on February 13, 2006 to parents Gogol and Bordello, and was adopted in mid-June by a young man
from Brooklyn. She and her three sisters (Bridget, Simone, and Josephine) were brought to the NYHH in March by their
French nanny, Violaine. Marie loves running in her wheel, clibming up her walls, and saying "let them eat cake." |
 |
Ophelia |
click here for larger image |
Ophelia moved in to the NYHH in June 2006 with her babies Britt, Beatrix, and Baltasar. She has gorgeous reddish
brown fur, and is a very fun young hamster. She spent a while just taking care of her babies, but now that they
are growing up she is ready to have some fun of her own. She was adopted by a loving family with two daughters. |
 |
Banjo |
click here for larger image |
Banjo came to the New York Hamster House last in late May. He was a little bit of a chubster, but cute enough
to pull it off. My awesome web designer named him "Banjo." He is ridiculously cute, and loves
snacking on sunflower seeds and hiding in the hamster playground. He was adopted by a sweet young woman. |
 |
Britt |
click here for larger image |
Britt came to the NYHH with her mom Ophelia, brother Baltasar, and sister Beatrix (born May 16th). Britt enjoys
snacking, chewing, and being as gorgeous as the gal she was named after. She is still very active, curious, and quite a jumper!
The cutest couple EVER adopted her and then took her out for yummy Indian food at Kismat. Yum! |
 |
Friedrich |
click here for larger image |
Friedrich and another gerbil were found in a box in a trash can in Fort Tryon Park and brought to the NYHH. He and the other
hamster lived together until one day they had babies, which was weird cause I thought they were both girls. Anyway, Friedrich
loved to eat furniture and was adorably destructive. Later, he moved in with baby Clark Gable.
The two were adopted by a family on Long Island in June 2006. |
 |
Clark Gable |
click here for larger image |
Clark Gable is one of the six babies born to Mama Belle in May this year. For a while, he lived with his mama and his five siblings,
where they kept busy by climbing the walls and destroying cardboard boxes. However, he recently moved in with his older friend Friedrich gerbil.
The two guys were adopted in June to a family who lives on Long Island. Have fun in the Hamptons, guys! |
 |
Brigitte Bardot |
click here for larger image |
Brigitte Bardot was born on February 13, 2006 to parents Gogol and Bordello. Brigitte is a world-champion runner, and loves to
climb on the OUTSIDE of her wheel. She's a little bit spastic, but we love her just the same. She was adopted by an awesome lady
and her bf who live in Queens and own a beautiful bunny rabbit. Be good, Brigitte! |
 |
Baltasar |
click here for larger image |
Baltasar moved into the NYHH with his mom, Ophelia, and sisters Britt and Beatrix. Baltasar loved to climb like a monkey, and
could sleep like a champ. Not only that, but he's been known to snore, if you can imagine something as cute as a loudly snoring hamster.
He was born on May 16th, and was adopted by a loving couple in July. |
 |
Beatrix |
click here for larger image |
Beatrix came to the NYHH with her mom Ophelia, brother Baltasar, and sister Britt. They all lived together for a while,
but now the kids are old enough for their own places. Britt lives on the third floor of the hamster condo. She is a great
wheel-runner, and also loves climbing. She was named after Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, though she now resides
with a loving family in New Jersey. |
 |
Uncle Blue |
click here for larger image |
Uncle Blue came to the NYHH in June 2006 with some of his extended family. He is a lovely hamster with red, brown, black and white fur.
He is extremely curious, and loves to eat basically anything. His favorite thing to do was to stuff his wheel with bedding and then
run in it (this is a very silly thing to do). He likes to run, and sniff, and poop. He found a happy forever home in Connecticut where
he will be well taken care of! |
 |
Ashley & Charles |
click here for larger image |
Ashley and Charles used to live with their brother Rhett, but he decided he was too cool and moved out on his own, gone with the wind. But, boy
can Ashley and Charles play! They are best friends, and crawl all over each other all the time, eating, playing, and even running in the wheel together
at the same time. They were adopted by a very kind family, where they will for sure be very happy. |
 |
Belle, Melanie and Scarlett |
click here for larger image |
Belle and her SIX babies came to the NYHH in June. The babies looked
like little newts, scurrying around the cage and climbing all over everything, but now they are growing up. Mama Belle lived
with her two daughters, Melanie and Scarlett, until the three of them were adopted by an incredibly generous and loving couple in July. They now
have the hugest, most awesome gerbil home EVER. I'll post pics on the Hamstories page. |
 |
Moo Cow |
click here for larger image |
Moo Cow, daughter of Bunnicula, came to the NYHH in July 2006 with her sisters
Cera and Foxy Brown (all born on May 14th). Moo Cow has a fluffy coat of white hair with black spots. She is totally obsessed with the hamster playground,
and seems to run about eighteen miles a day. While she does not moo, she does make adorable faces and squish up her nose in a cute way. She was adopted in
August and now lives in a very happy home. |
 |
Foxy Brown |
click here for larger image |
Foxy Brown, daughter of Bunnicula, came to the NYHH in July 2006 with her sisters
Cera and Moo Cow. She is a demon in her ball, racing around the apartment at the speed of light! Right now she lives with sister Cera, and then take turns all
night long running on the wheel and napping on top of their food dish. She was adopted along with her sister in a new house that has birds, snakes, and
lots of other animals! |
 |
Cera |
click here for larger image |
Cera is a special little hamster, as she was born with only three legs. She walks just fine, though,
and gets along just like any other hammie. In July she moved to the NYHH with mom Bunnicula and sisters Foxy Brown and Moo Cow. Right now she lives with
Foxy Brown. They spend their evenings sitting in the food dish and making cute clicking noises. In August, they were adopted by a woman who
just loves animals. |
 |
Thor |
click here for larger image |
Thor proved that he was brave after Uncle Blue attacked
him on his very first day at the NYHH (I felt SO bad about that!!!). He's incredibly sweet, though, and healed very well.
He got a cut on his face, but he is gorgeous anyway. He loves hanging from the roof of his
cage and climbing. He's kind of an amazing gymnast. He was adopted by a loving mom (who is a belly dancer!) and her son.
By the way, he is named after the hot guy from Adventures in Babysitting, not for the bearded Norse god of thunder. |
|
Jackson |
click here for larger image |
Jackson came to the NYHH in October
2005 along with his now-deceased brothers, Michael Bloomberg and Prince.
They had been neglected and their old owner had been keeping them in a bucket!
Jackson has grown and blossomed and is a super energetic and adorable white
dwarf hamster. We waited a really, really long time to find a good forever home
for him... but he's got one now! |
 |
Lovey |
click here for larger image |
Lovey is a male syrian hamster who moved into the NYHH in June 2006. Lovey is, well, a complete love,
and is great at hiding, looking cute, and running on his wheel. He likes eating (maybe a bit too much) and sleeps a lot. In August 2006, Lovey
found a GREAT forever home with a fantastic Mets fan and his girlfriend. |
 |
Vanilla & Chocolate |
click here for larger image |
Vanilla and Chocolate are two gorgeous gerbils who are totally BFF (Best Friends Forever,
duh!). They run, sleep, eat, and play together all day long. They are not the most cuddly of gerbils; in fact, they are very happy
just playing together and running in their wheel. They found a great forever home in New Jersey, and are together forever! |
 |
Mickey Bloomberg |
click here for larger image |
Mickey is a special guy. Not only does he have two awesome namesakes--the dearly departed Mayor, and Sandra's
old gerbil--but out of a litter of four, he was the ONLY surviving child of Hermione and Friredrich! He just got his own place, and is getting used to living alone.
He enjoys running, chewing, and long walks in the moonlight. He was adopted in August so that he can have a roommate and someone to play with. Sounds great! |
 |
Rhett |
click here for larger image |
Rhett is a son of Mama Belle, who had six kids: Clark Gable, Melanie, Scarlett,
Charles, Ashley, and then dear Rhett. He is SO active and loves to run and climb. He also enjoys hiding in and eating paper towel rolls.
This southern gentleman recently relocated to Pennsylvania, where he will get a roommate. His new family takes in lots of needy animals, so he will
certainly be loved. |
 |
Simon & Garfunkel |
click here for larger image |
Simon and Garfunkel are father and son. They are uber energetic, and climb all
over their cage all day long. It is their favorite thing to do. They were always asking for some kodachrome, but I would say
"not until I hear the sounds of silence." Anyway, they were adopted by the sweetest girl from Astoria who renamed them Spooky and Grimmy.
|
 |
Dotty |
click here for larger image |
Dotty is named after the New York DOT (Department of Transportation), which is also where she came from. She, her sister Mulberry,
and her three daughters came here from a DOT office in Queens and they are still looking for homes. Dotty is perhaps one year old--
maybe one and a half. In August, she charmed an adorable gal from Astoria into giving her a forever home.
|
 |
Hermione |
click here for larger image |
I think we all remember Hermione... He was found in a trash can in Fort Tryon Park and came to the
NYHH as Hermann with friend, Friedrich. Except that Hermann was a she, a pregnant girl eventually named Hermione. Oops! Hermione had four babies
on June 11th. One died, and she ate two of them. Her surviving son was Mickey Bloomberg. She recently was adopted by a man who rescues tons of
animals, and she has a roommate to live with. Woo hoo!
|
 |
Mike & Ike |
click here for larger image |
Mike and Ike were at the New York Hamster House for such a short time that they never even made
an appearance on the "adoptable hammies" page! Like sands between the--anyway, they were adopted by a smart, cute second grade teacher from
Astoria. They are going to live in the school, and become super smart cause dude, if you LIVE at school, you have to be smart, right? I hope they
remembered their Trapper Keepers!
|
 |
Amsterdam |
click here for larger image |
Amsterdam is the cutest HAMSTERDAM in the world. She is very young, and jumpy, and a running machine. She lives here with her mom, aunt, and two sisters.
They are a family of cute, pink noses. Here's a video of the
monsters. Amsterdam, renamed Sophia Lauren (SoLo) was adopted by a bright young lady who dances and acts. Lucky SoLo!
|
 |
 |
Brook Lyn Bridge |
click here for larger image |
Brook, named after the Brooklyn Bridge, came to the NYHH with her sisters, aunt, and mom. Unlike her namesake, she has no cassions.
She is small, cute, and young (maybe three months old?), and loves to nibble on wood and runs like a maniac in her wheel. You can check out
Brook and her sisters in this video. Brook was adopted
by a young gal in high school who came here with her very sweet boyfriend and her mom. Brook is going to have an AWESOME life at her new home! |
 |
Betty |
click here for larger image |
Betty came with her sister to the New York Hamster House in July 2006 at the age of six weeks. At first, they
lived together, playing every day. Betty would always sing "Lord help the mister, who comes between me and my sister." But then I came between them and gave
them each their own cage. Miss Betty was adopted in September by a very sweet Columbia student who promised to let her friends know about the NYHH. |
Jack Bauer |
click here for larger image |
Just like his namesake on 24, Jack Bauer spends every day saving the world. He chases bad guys (in his wheel), foils plots (while sleeping),
and punishes criminals (this involves chewing on cardboard). Hamster Jack Bauer may bear the scars (one scar, on his nose)
of his dangerous CIA job, but underneath it all he is just looking for love. He brought his espionage skills to a new family who just lost their
pet, Simone the Wonder Hamster. If anyone can help them heal, it's the studly, sensitive Jack Bauer. Rawr! |
 |
Westley |
click here for larger image |
This little Farm Boy is a running machine. Four-month-old Westley loves running, and then stopping for a second, and running again. Maybe
it's from his immunity to iocaine powder. Anyway, Westley is very good natured and easy to handle... the perfect companion for kids, pirates,
and princesses. He came to the NYHH with four other brothers and sisters in September 2006 following a stint pirating. Today he told me he
wanted a forever home. "As you wish," I told him. And now he has one, with a cool girl named Kayla and her family on the Lower East Side. |
 |
Bunnicula |
click here for larger image |
Bunnicula brought her three kids with her to the New York Hamster House in July 2006.
She is really, really cute, but unfortunately had bright red eyes and bit a lot (which is why my friend Jody helped me pick the name
Bunnicula for her). I wondered if anyone would want to adopt her, but then a guy whisked in on the train from Westchester and decided
to rescue Bunnicula and turn her into a sweet, docile creature. Best of luck! |
 |
Rosemary |
click here for larger image |
Rosemary was born in June 2006 and came to the NYHH when she was six weeks old with her sister Betty. She has the cutest big ears
that make her look so alert and adorable. She is shy and jumpy, as she is still a baby... but she LOVES to explore. How funny that Rosemary always
used to sing "Lord help the mister / who comes between me and my sister," and now she was adopted by a friend of the gal who adopted her sister. Looks
like they will still be friends :) |
 |
Mulberry |
click here for larger image |
Mulberry is named after a street downtown where I had a nice kiss :) She and the rest of her family came to the NYHH in August 2006 from a
Department of Transportation office. I am pretty sure that Mulberry is Dotty's sister. Either way, she looks a bit younger and slimmer, and is maybe 7 months old.
She is obsessed with running in her wheel. She was adopted in October by two kids who are VERY rambunctious and will keep her busy for sure. Have
fun, Mulberry! |
 |
Garamond |
click here for larger image |
Garamond lives in a totally pink house, and is constantly redecorating his cage. He is fussy, but endearing and kind and
so cute that you kind of want to eat his little pink nose it's just TOO CUTE. Garamond is four months old and came to the NYHH
in September 2006 with his whole family (bold, italics, caps, etc). He runs 897 miles a day and likes to sleep under his wheel.
This cutester was adopted in October by a very kind family. |
 |
Cale Hoeflicker |
click here for larger image |
Cale Hoeflicker is named after my friend Amanda's boyfriend, who has the coolest name in the history of the universe. It's a big name to live up
to, but I think Cale can handle it. Cale is a HUGE dwarf hamster... a plus sized model if you will. He loves eating almonds and carrots, and while he
nibbles a bit, he's really quite friendly. Cale came to the NYHH from a home where there were just too many hamsters, and while I can't tell how old he
is he certainly acts young, running and playing all the time. Right after he became Hamster of the Month, Cale was adopted by a very cool, smart lady
who knows a lot about animals. And Cale totally doesn't nip her! She's magic, people :) |
 |
Lenny Briscoe |
click here for larger image |
Lenny might well have been the fluffiest, prettiest, cutest hamster to ever live in the Hamster House. Named after the late, great Jerry Orbach's character
from Law & Order, Lenny came to the NYHH in October 2006 with
Ann Richards, Oubliette, and Spinderella after being rescued from a bad situation upstate. One evening in October 2006, a sweet young man named Joseph came to
the NYHH to adopt Lenny. When he left with Lenny, he had my heart, too. We've been together (Lenny, too!) ever since :) |
 |
Dr. Leo Marvin |
 |
click here for larger image |
Dr. Leo Marvin came to the NYHH along with ten of his relatives in March 2007. Dr. Leo is bright, sensitive,
and curious. He likes to run in his wheel and burrow and make cute scrunchy faces. He is VERY, very fast, and is not a cuddley kind of hamster. More of a "watch
me while I run!" hamster. He's a big fan of nuts and spinach. He's eager to find a new family to live with
and to take care of. Of Bob, he says "You think he's gone? He's not gone. That's the whole point! HE'S NEVER GONE!" (Except he is, cause he was adopted...)
|
 |
The Fam |
click here for larger image |
The Fam is made up of a mama and her two daughters--the mama is about a year old, and the two daughters were born in October 2007.
These three gals live together in a pink cage. Sometimes, they all three run in the wheel together! These guys are MAMA
fast... not so much "cuddling" hamsters... more like running, speeding, racing hamsters. VERY fun to watch :) Eighty miles per hour of CUTE!!!!
|
 |
 |
Pumpkin |
click here for larger image |
Pumpkin came to the New York Hamster House about two months ago, dropped off from a family who could no longer care
for her. She seems to be about six months old--not a baby, but not grown-up. She's cute as a button, though not super friendly... she doesn't bite so much as she
just doesn't love to be picked up. I try to handle her as much as possible, but I hope that her new family will be one who has lots of time to spend with this little
munchkin. So cute!!!!
|
 |
 |
Latitude |
click here for larger image |
Latitude came to the Hamster House in May 2007 along with her mom, Mercator, and sister. She is a big fan
of running in her wheel and burrowing. She of course also likes to measure things and draw maps. Remember, latitude is flatitude! I think Latitude is about four months old, and she has such a good dispositions and is easy to handle. Don't
you have room in your home for this little girl?

 |
 |
Flopsy & Mopsy |
click here for larger image |
Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail were sisters who lived together and were very happy, until one day a cat broke in to
the New York Hamster House and unfortunately nature took its course. So now, it's just Flopsy and Mopsy. They were born in late July and are about six weeks old. They are
fans of shredding paper, chewing paper, and munching on paper. They sleep snuggled up in a ball of cute. Would you like to meet them?
|
 |
 |
Fahrenheit |
click here for larger image |
Whoo, Fahrenheit is HOTT! To be honest, there's not much to say about Fahrenheit. She's a very quiet gerbil who loves
to hide and sleep in her wheel. Sometimes, I catch her climbing on the ceiling of her cage, but she's a bit shy. She appears to be about a year old.
|
 |
 |
Houdini |
click here for larger image |
Where did Houdini go?!!? Oh, I see, here in this cage. Houdini is an ex-part of The Fam. She went on the lam one day when
she was about a month old, and hid from me for a week. Obviously I found her, and everything is fine now, though she lives alone. This little monkey runs approximately
fifteen million miles a second, so I don't think she'd be good for young kids. Maybe an older whipper-snapper, someone in college or a grown-up even. She has the cutest face
that the world has ever seen.

Reindeer Part Two |
The day that our favorite hamster, Reindeer, was adopted, a new hamster showed up at the Hamster House who looked very much
like Ms. Reindeer! We named her Reindeer Two, and just like her namesake, she started climbing all over her cage and hanging from the ceiling. She is so rambunctious, and
sweet. I haven't taken a picture yet, but I will soon!
